Kangle User Manual

Growing up in different places made me never take good communication for granted. I've encountered numerous instances where people viewed me as less intelligent or capable simply because I couldn't always quickly understand or interpreted things differently due to not growing up in the same environment as they did. People often understand the same words or sentences differently, and it's just a fact of life. It was never about anyone's intelligence; it's all about context.

However, I've found that not many people notice that their miscommunication is caused by differences in cultural context. That's why making things radically transparent is so important. Transparency reduces the risk of miscommunication. This is why I created this User Manual for those who are going to work with me.

Best,

My Priorities By Order

  1. God’s Business

  2. Physical & Mental Health

  3. Relationships w/ People

  4. Business

What I Believe

  1. “I am the master of my fate: I am the captain of my soul” - William Ernest Henley. I believe that I can do anything.

  2. I believe that people should seek out their purpose in life. This is the only way for you to truly work hard on something.

  3. I believe that everyone should be constantly updating themselves on every important aspect of life (i.e. Business, Mental, Empathy, etc), daily.

  4. I believe that my life is the result of my decisions and execution. I am fully responsible for my failures and successes. If I am late for the meeting, it will be my fault. Even if the bus was late, or the internet went down.

  5. I believe in motions, the further I go, the more I know and the more I accomplish.

  6. I surround myself with good people. In my world, good people make things happen. I pick good people over good ideas every single time. How I define good people is (good intention + good execution + intelligence + Experience).

  7. I believe in urgency, my days are numbered, so are yours.

  8. I believe that shit can be turned into sugar. Every bad situation can be turned into a good one.

My Communication Style

  1. I text people when I have something to say. I do it almost instantly.

  2. I prefer video calls or in person meetings over important issues.

  3. I prefer bad news travel fast to me.

  4. I am straightforward. I don't give hints, I just say it.

  5. I am not good with metaphors.

  6. Feedback: I am always looking for feedback. Just shoot me a slack or message. I would always appreciate that.

My Working Habits

  1. I schedule 99% of tasks and respect everyone's time by explicitly stating the time for meetups. I don't provide vague responses like 'it should work' or 'let's wait and see if I am too busy that day.' I expect the same level of respect in return.

  2. I don't send reminders. I believe it's each person's responsibility to use a calendar.

  3. I don't like to be disrupted when I am working in person. If I am in the flow, I’d much prefer you to send me a message, even if you are just sitting across the table.

  4. I am very intentional with the words that I use, I avoid using words that don't mean or do anything.

What I Value

  1. Open Mindedness

  2. Radical Transparency

  3. Personal responsibility is paramount. When you decide to be part of a project, take ownership of it. A true leader is someone who embraces and takes personal responsibility for the entire process. Work with people > work for people.

  4. I borrow the below from Peter Saddington’s User Manual:

    1. “I operate on a very simple two-point function (for most big decisions in life):

1 – Is it interesting and fun for me to commit some serious time into?

2 – Is it challenging? Does being one of the best in this market afford the few great rewards for their hard work?

If 1+2 are true. Then I’m willing to dig in and put everything I have into making it into a reality. Why do I know it’s possible? Because others have gone before me and succeeded and all of the materials, resources, and people are all already here on this planet for me to succeed. I just have to act with intention to find them.”

What I Don’t Have Patient For

  1. People who can't use Google, Youtube, or ChatGPT.

  2. Words that can't be followed by actions.

  3. Beat around the bush.

  4. Slow progress (lack of urgency).

  5. People who are negative.
